Miranda Kerr reveals a promise she made to Orlando Bloom after their breakup

Miranda Kerr is tapping into her and her ex Orlando Bloom’s co-parenting dynamic.

The Victoria Secret model, who was married to Orlando for three years, reflected on her marriage and how they learned to peacefully co-parent their 15-year-old son after their divorce.

“We both knew the relationship wasn’t bringing out the best in each other,” Miranda said on the We Need to Talk podcast on Feb. 3. “And so when we made that decision separately, I told him, ‘Let’s always put Flynn’s needs first.’”

Miranda, who split from Orlando in 2013 after a six-year relationship, said they rebuilt their co-parenting bond, which took effort and spiritual work, especially “forgiving each other.”

And “forgiving ourselves, creating peace in the situation.”

After their divorce, they focused on their son Flynn instead of themselves.

“At the same time, let’s make sure we forgive each other completely,” she continued, “make peace with each other, because otherwise it really weighs on you.”

The Kora founder noted that co-parenting means staying connected forever. “If you have a child with someone else, he or she will always be that person’s parent for the rest of their life.”

However, Miranda admitted that she struggled with boundaries early on, until she met her now husband Evan Spiegel.

“My husband has good boundaries,” Miranded said, adding that she always took last-minute changes into account in Orlando.

She is now a mother to three more children whom she shares with Evan: Hart, Myles and Pierre.
