Moby revisits his long-running feud with Eminem and shares another assessment of the rapper 25 years later.
The electronic artist, 60, shared his recent views in a new interview with The times, published on February 20, which now describes Eminem as “very progressive” and “very smart”, especially since he spoke out against US President Donald Trump and US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“As time has gone on, Eminem has proven to be very progressive and very smart. When he speaks out against Trump, against ICE, I think, ‘Wow, kudos to you.’ Eminem’s followers are from Central America and are very inclined to support Trump,” he said.
“No one is surprised if Mark Ruffalo or I or anyone else speaks out against Trump,” Moby added.
The tension between the two artists dates back to the 2001 Grammy Awards, where Moby criticized Eminem backstage, calling his lyrics misogynistic and homophobic. Eminem was nominated for four awards at the time for his album The Marshall Mathers LP.
Eminem fired back in his 2002 hit Without mein which Moby is mocked in a now infamous verse. Moby later addressed the diss on his blog, saying he found it funny, although sticking to his previous criticism of music, which was that he felt glorified abuse and discrimination.
Further reflection during a 2023 performance at Steve-O’s Wild rideMoby admitted that he may have escalated the feud with a tongue-in-cheek MTV comment in which he suggested Eminem was “locked up,” a comment he now acknowledges likely fueled the conflict.
On the work front, Moby recently released his 23rd studio album, Future Quiet, on February 20 and will be performing at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April 2026.
