Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has repeated requests from BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla for the Asia Cup 2025 trophy, and claims that the price must be received directly by the Indian captain, Geo -Nieuws reported to quote sources on Tuesday,

The case occurred during a routine ACC meeting in Dubai, chaired by Naqvi, where Shukla repeatedly insisted on the trophy transfer.

However, Naqvi replied that the issue was not part of the agenda of the meeting. After further insistence, he noted that if the Indian team wanted the trophy, the captain would have to visit the ACC office personally to receive it.

No decision has been made yet whether the trophy will be transferred to the Indian side.

According to sources in the vicinity of regional cricket bodies, BCCI officials – who virtually attended the meeting – responded strongly to Naqvi’s position and, instead, demanded that the trophy is transferred to the International Cricket Council (ICC) headquarters.

Allegedly, other ACC members tried to harm the tensions and urge Indian officials to show restraint. The BCCI delegation, however, abruptly left the meeting and cut its digital feed.

The row follows a series of controversies in which the Indian team is involved during the Asia cup – from players who sniff hands to refuses to receive the trophy from Naqvi, who also leads the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

The handshake incident had already drawn the attention in the midst of raised tensions between the arch rivals, which resulted from the collision of the group stage to the final.

The tournament ended with another flash point when the Indian team refused to accept the Asia Cup trophy from Naqvi after beating Pakistan in the final in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

The decision was reportedly made in the direction of the BCCI. As a result, the ceremony ended after the game without the men in blue lifting the silverware.
