New updates on the timeline of the deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele were shared by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.
According to attorney Nathan J. Hochman, the actor-director and his wife were allegedly murdered by their 32-year-old Nick Reiner in “approximately the early morning hours” of December 14, via People.
“Around the early morning hours of December 14, Reiner is accused of fatally stabbing Rob Reiner, 78, and Michele Singer Reiner, 70, at their home in the 200 block of South Chadbourne Avenue in Brentwood,” according to a statement from Hochman’s office on Tuesday, December 16.
“Nick Reiner fled but was arrested hours later that evening in Exposition Park.”
Earlier the same day, Hochman said in a press release that he has no information about the exact time of Rob and Michelle’s murders.
“I’m sorry we don’t have that kind of specificity yet. We’re waiting for the coroner to try to determine as best we can at this time of death,” the attorney responded when inquired.
In addition, Hochman’s office confirmed that Nick had been charged with “two counts of murder with the allegation of multiple counts of murder under special circumstances, and a special allegation that he personally used a dangerous and deadly weapon, a knife,” according to the press release.
District Attorney Hochman noted, “Prosecuting cases involving domestic violence is one of the most challenging and heartbreaking cases we face due to the intimate and often brutal nature of the crimes.”
“Rob Reiner was one of the greatest filmmakers of his generation. His and his wife of more than 35 years, the murder of Michele Singer Reiner, is shocking and tragic. We owe it to their memory to pursue justice and accountability for the lives taken,” the statement added.
