Nicole Kidman has two daughters, who she says taught her a lesson that she is currently trying to adopt.
It’s about how to shake off criticism, especially in the age of social media. The conversation was sparked by an opinion Ariana Grande shared during a conversation Interview magazine.
“I’m so grateful to be able to do what I love. I just didn’t expect some parts of it,” says the Bad star, adding that she had to make a “major adjustment” in her life after becoming famous at a young age.
“Well, you’re very young, and then suddenly you’re put in this fishbowl and everything is dissected. It starts to get very, very difficult, and then you think about it, and then you get scared, and then you get hurt, and then you say, ‘Now I don’t want to go out. I don’t want to venture into this world.’ I get it,” she shares.
On this, Nicole, who is with her in the interview, adds that there is “a constant push-pull” that “exists for everyone”. However, she notes that younger generations tend to interact differently than she does.
“I’m raising teenage girls right now, and it’s fascinating. I think they have an armor that we didn’t get,” says the Oscar winner.
“Or I certainly didn’t understand that, because there was no social media. The very, very young people have already said, ‘We know exactly how to handle this,'” adding, “They don’t take a lot of things personally. They shrug their shoulders.”
It’s worth noting that Nicole has four children, including two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.
