Nicole Scherzinger was recently opened about the tragic death of her friend Liam Payne, a member of the British boys’ band One Direction.
In an emotional interview with The London TimesScherzinger shared that she had exchanged “Just Chit -Chat and Pretty Light” texts with Payne on the day he died in Argentina.
Scherzinger, who helped form One direction on The X Factor UK In 2010, good friends had remained with Payne over the years. They even worked together on that of Netflix Build the band, that was broadcast earlier this year.
“I just loved Liam. He had such a good heart,” Scherzinger said and remembered how she barely knew him when she put together the band.
Tragically enough, Payne died on October 16, 2024, at the age of 35, after falling from a hotel balcony in the third floor in Buenos Aires.
Scherzinger heard of his death only a few hours before her performance in the Broadway revival of Sunset Boulevard, where she played the leading role of Norma Desmond.
Despite her grief, she chose to continue with the show, destroying part of the performance to Payne every evening.
“From that moment on I dedicated a small part of the show to Liam every night. Just a small moment that always reminded me of him,” Scherzinger shared.
She also thought about the importance of compassion in the world and said: “We need more compassion in the world. Our phones are our enemies as much as they help us. I wish we can cancel the culture.”
In a sincere Instagram post weeks after Payne’s death, Scherzinger wrote: “Dear Liam, I will always cherish and cherish the time that we shared together … You brought so much joy, light and laughter to the lives of those you really knew. I will” miss my friend and wear you in my heart. ”
