Nine Inch Nails and Boys Noize performed their first full set as Nine Inch Noize at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on April 11.
The 45-minute performance marked a major step up from the shorter sets the duo previously tested on their “Peel It Back” tour.
They performed on the Sahara stage performing remixed Nine Inch Nails songs. Trent Reznor and Mariqueen Maandig opened with a new version of Shipstanding at the back of a tunnel-like stage. as dancers and elaborate visuals filled the stage.
Instead of performing original versions, they also changed songs like Closer, Copy of A And Me, it’s not me to more electronic versions. There was one striking moment Parasitea song from Reznor and Maandig’s side project, How to Destroy Angels.
The set also teased their first album, HALO 38as Nine Inch Noize, will be released on April 17. The two groups have worked together before Challengers And TRON: Ares.
The Coachella set comes amid changes within the Nine Inch Nails lineup, including drummer Ilan Rubin’s departure to Foo Fighters, while Josh Freese moves in the opposite direction.
While Reznor previously hinted at a possible hiatus from live performances, he later clarified that the band has no immediate touring plans but has not ruled out future shows.
