Dame Judi Dench shares a heartbreaking health update as she reveals she has lost her sight.
The legendary actress, 90, has opened up about the daily challenges she faces with her health, revealing she has now completely lost her sight.
The Oscar-winning star, who won Best Supporting Actress for Shakespeare in love, first spoke publicly about her age-related macular degeneration (AMD) in 2012.
Earlier this year she admitted she ‘can’t leave home alone’ due to the progressive condition.
Dame Judi told the crowd at the Theater Royal in Bury St Edmunds, where she serves as patron:
‘When I go to the theater I can’t see. ‘Hopeless.’
Despite her bondage, she keeps up with the latest news Famous traitors and hearing updates about her friend Celia Imrie through word of mouth.
The actress also revealed that reading scripts has become ‘impossible’, highlighting the impact of her deteriorating eyesight on her work.
On Trinny Woodall’s Fearless podcast, Dame Judi explained that she always has someone to accompany her when she leaves the house: ‘There will always be someone with me’ when she leaves the house.
She continued, “I have to (have someone) right now because I can’t see.”
The Golden Eye actress, known for her iconic role as M in nine James Bond films, admitted she was ‘not good at it at all’ when attending events alone in the past.
