Colombo: Pakistan and India will see today in a long -awaited competition of the current ICC World Cup for Women at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
In their opening match of the tournament, Pakistan suffered a huge loss for Bangladesh, while India won a victory against Sri Lanka in the opener of their tournament.
The competition will probably be influenced by rain, with predictions that predict intermittent showers during the day. Rain is expected before the game starts and can continue with different intensities during the game.
Colombo has recently seen heavy rainfall and yesterday’s game between Sri Lanka and Australia was canceled due to persistent showers.
Statistics show that Pakistan has never defeated India in the ODIs of women, with the two teams that face each other 11 times, where India has become victorious on all occasions.
The tournament takes place from September 30 to November 2 in India and Sri Lanka, and Pakistan plays all their group stage matches in the R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo.
If Pakistan goes to the semi -final on 29 October and the final on November 2, both games will also be held in Colombo.
‘No handshakes’
Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Devajit Saikia said that the Pakistan policy will remain unchanged in their upcoming collision in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025.
In an interview with BBC, the BCCI secretary stated that there was no guarantee that Indian players will shake their Pakistani counterparts during their upcoming match in Colombo on October 5.
“I can’t predict anything, but our relationship with that country [Pakistan] is the same; There is no change last week, “said Saikia.
“India will play that match against Pakistan in Colombo, and all cricket protocols will be followed. I can only assure that everything there is in the MCC [Marylebone Cricket Club] Cricket regulations, that will be done.
“Whether there will be handshake, or there will be cuddling, I can’t assure you at the moment,” he added.
His comments come in the background of India’s controversial and widespread behavior during the recently closed Asia Cup 2025, where the men’s team refused to shake hands with Pakistani players and made political statements during ceremonies after the game and press conferences.
India also refused to collect the winner trophy from President Mohsin Naqvi, president of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), who also serves as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
‘Focus only at stake’
Pakistan ladies’ cricket captain Fatima Sana appealed to a pre-match presser on Saturday and said that her team is only focused on the game.
Fatima, however, was still asked to share whether she would miss the spirit and comrades between the two teams, referring to their off-field interactions after their match at the 2022 edition of the Mega event, when the Indian players the then Pakistani captain Bismah Maroof and co-opens about her six-month-old daughter.
Fatima, who was part of the national team, then repeated the position of Pakistan to fulfill the mind in response, but emphasized that their primary goal is to ‘stay focused’ at stake.
“Our main goal is to play well. Our relationship with the other teams is good. We will try to fulfill the spirit of the game,” Fatima said.
“What happened before, like with the daughter of Bismmah, when everyone mixed and enjoyed themselves, as players, we all love such moments. But the most important thing is to stay focused on where we came here,” she added.
The captain of Pakistan also rejected the idea of opportunities against them, because they find India 11-0 in their head-to-head record in the ladies ODIs and emphasized instead that her team has the potential to defeat each top, which states that the records are meant to be broken.
