Karachi: Pakistan’s emerging pumpkin talent Noor Zaman lifted the Nash Cup 2025 in London, Canada, after beating Egypt’s Moustafa Elsirty in straight competitions in the final.
The 21-year-old fifth seed surpassed the second seed of the tournament 3-0 in an exciting 52-minute collision to secure the title.
Zaman protruded a marathon first match 19-17 before he sealed the match 11-7 and 11-9 victories. The triumph meant an important milestone for the ruling world -U23 champion.
Earlier, Zaman stormed into the final after beating Matias Knudsen from Colombia, the number 7 seed, 11-3, 12-10, 11-3 in just 28 minutes, with full dominance.
Muhammad Ashab Irfan from Pakistan also delivered an impressive run and reached the semi -final with a dramatic comeback victory on Veer Chotrani in India.
After losing the first two games 9-11, 4-11, Ashab, sowed eighth, fought brilliantly back to win the next three 11-8, 11-8, 11-8, to seal a 3-2 victory.
The ASHAB campaign, however, ended in the semi-final, where he lost 3-1 to Elsirty, who previously prevailed in 44 minutes on 11-5, 11-3, 5-11, 11-2.
Zaman booked his semi-final by beating Ronald Palomino of Colombia 3-1 and won in 52 minutes with 11-4, 10-12, 11-7, 11-7.
The Nash Cup 2025, a PSA World Tour Copper level event, wore a prize wallet of $ 31,250.
