Karachi: The Pakistani Saad Habib Malik booked his place in the final of the 134th Sri Lanka Amateur Golf Championship after beating the Reshan Algama of the host Nation in the semi -final in the Royal Colombo Golf Club.

Saad closed a 4-up victory on the 16th hole on Saturday and produced four Birdies and a beautiful eagle on the par-5 seventh. His aggressive shooting and quiet calmness under pressure caused his berth in the 36-hole final.

Earlier in the championship, Saad supplied one of the striking versions of the tournament by surpassing India’s Vivaan Ubhayakar in the quarterfinals, so that an impressive 5-up victory was sealed on the 14th hole with five Birdies.

The other representative of Pakistan, Nouman Ilyas, could not progress further when he fell in his quarter -final of Sri Lanka in the Reshan -Algama of Sri Lanka.

The final, planned for Sunday, will see Habib opposite Sri Lanka’s Chanaka Perera, who improved after winning the other semi -final against fellow countryman Sachin de Silva.

The champion match is played on 36 holes, a test of endurance and focus that is expected to yield a dramatic finish.
