Pamela Anderson embraces her natural beauty and feels more confident than ever.
The 58-year-old actress and author, who has famously chosen to go makeup-free in recent years, opened up about her journey of self-acceptance and self-confidence while speaking exclusively to PEOPLE during her Sonsie pop-up event in New York City.
Since becoming co-owner of Sonsie, a skincare company that promotes conscious beauty, in January 2024, Anderson said her own perspective on beauty has changed.
“So much more freedom and so much more self-confidence,” she said about how the brand’s philosophy has influenced her.
“It’s a choice,” she emphasized at the event held in Soho on Friday, October 24.
The Baywatch icon admitted that living without makeup isn’t always effortless.
“You have to work at it. It’s a habit to go out confidently, with or without makeup,” she said during the chat.
Reflecting on her decision to move away from beauty standards, Anderson said she simply felt it was time for a change.
“I could just see something cultural and I was like, ‘I want to jump off the crazy train. I want to be one of the first to jump off the crazy train and just untie it and see what’s going on,'” she explained.
For Anderson, simplicity has its advantages. “I saved a lot of time,” she joked, noting how ditching daily makeup has made her routine simpler and her mindset lighter.
The mother of two, who shares sons Brandon Thomas, 29, and Dylan Jagger, 27, with ex-husband Tommy Lee, also reflected on how her younger self felt about the choice.
When asked if she would give her past self any advice, Anderson said, “That’s the thing. You look back, after having some life experience, you can look back and see yourself. But I mean, I don’t know if I would give her any advice.”
She added thoughtfully, “If someone had told me something when I was younger, I wouldn’t have done it. So you just have to find your own inspirations and your own reasons.”
Through her commitment to authenticity, Pamela Anderson continues to redefine what beauty means and shows that confidence truly starts from within.
