Timothée Chalamet plays many characters, but Paul Atreides is one of his favorite characters, whom he portrays with such courage, which makes his critics rave about his performance.
Now, ahead of the highly anticipated third installment, the actor promises a much better rendition of Dune’s Messiah.
His comments about the upcoming film come during Variety and CNN’s town hall event at the University of Texas at Austin.
In the middle of the discussion, he shares the performances that inspired his performance as Paul Atreides. He then drops titles of iconic hit films that defined their eras.
“What I think you see at the end of the second and on the other side of the third is yourself in ‘Interstellar’ and Heath Ledger in ‘The Dark Knight’ and Marlon Brando in ‘Apocalypse Now’ and things like that.”

However, he paused for a moment and added, “Actually, wait, let me rephrase that all! Wait a minute. I can’t put myself in that same boat,” adding, “Let’s just say it’s these big movies where you can sneak something in. A curveball.”
Moreover, Chalamet said he didn’t want to appear complacent, so he rehearsed hard for the third film.
“I didn’t want to be complacent about any one moment. Everything was sacred, and it was the last time I made a ‘Dune’ movie, so I really wanted to treat it as sacred. Because people can get complacent, but by the third one I was more intense. It felt like that was the natural momentum, so I wanted to push against that as hard as I could.”
Dune: part three debuts in theaters on December 18.
