Patrick Corbin joins Blue Jays on $1 million contract after improved 2025 season

The Toronto Blue Jays have signed left-handed pitcher Patrick Corbin to a one-year, $1 million contract, adding more experienced players to their pitching staff.

Corbin has been optioned to Single-A Dunedin as he works toward a return to the Major League roster.

The 13-year veteran showed signs of improvement with the Texas Rangers in 2025 after several challenging seasons.

He played 31 games, including 30 starts, and finished with a 7-11 record and a 4.40 ERA, his best full-season performance since 2019.

Much of that improvement came from limiting base runners and reducing hard contact. Corbin posted a WHIP of 1.36, his lowest since 2019, and allowed fewer hits compared to recent years.

Despite ups and downs, Corbin has remained one of the most durable pitchers in baseball, making at least 30 starts in every full season since 2017.

Over his career with the Arizona Diamondbacks, Washington Nationals and Rangers, Corbin has a record of 110-142 with an ERA of 4.51.

His best season came in 2019, when he helped the Nationals win the World Series with a 3.25 ERA.
