Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Selectors are considering replacing Salman Ali Agha as T20i captain, because his role in the team was examined after the recent T20 Asia Cup 2025, told sources told Geo -Nieuws On Tuesday.
Despite the national side that reached the final of the continental tournament, the 31-year-old was confronted with criticism of his performance with the bat, as well as growing concern about his leadership skills.
Agha was able to collect 72 runs with an average of 12 and a success rate of 80 over seven games of the T20 Asia Cup 2025.
Critics also closed the Pakistan skipper for losing his wicket to rash shot in crunch situations in important games of the continental tournament.
Sources said that national selectors considered replacing Agha as a captain prior to the T20 World Cup.
There were also opportunities for senior players to return for the global tournament, they added.
In the meantime, selectors have also started discussions for selection selection for the upcoming White-Ball series against South Africa.
The squadrons for both T20Is and ODIs will probably see two to three changes, with the return of senior players and the addition of new talent, says sources.
Pakistan plays a T20i series of three games against South Africa from 28 October to 1 November, with the first match planned in Rawalpindi and the remaining two in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
The two games then play an ODI series of three games, scheduled from 4 to 8 November, with all the matches that must be organized in IQBal Stadium, Faisalabad.
Before the White-Ball series, Pakistan plays one of two games against South Africa.
The first test is played in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium from 12 to 16 October, followed by the second test in Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium from 20 to 24 October.
