PCB refutes claims on new PSL teams’ names

The players and support staff of Lahore Qalandars celebrate winning the PSL

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday denied media reports claiming that two city names had been finalized for new Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises.

In its statement, the PCB explained that the winning bidders will be allowed to select a team name from the list of cities previously shared by the board. The shortlisted options are Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad and Gilgit.

“The PCB welcomes and welcomes the growing interest in the acquisition of team franchise rights for two new teams for future editions of the PSL,” it added.

PSL Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Salman Naseer announced last month that an auction for two new franchises will be held during the 11th edition of the tournament.

“An auction will be held for two new PSL franchises. Bidders will be given a pool of city names from which they can select one team,” Naseer told reporters at a press conference in Karachi on October 29.

It is pertinent to mention here that the public advertisement for the tender of the team franchise rights was published on November 15, 2025 and invites bids from interested parties from all over the world.

The deadline for submitting technical proposals is December 15, 2025 at 11 a.m., the PCB said.
