The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to appeal against the fine that Pacer Haris Rauf imposed for his gesture during the Asia Cup 2025 Super Fours collision against India, said a senior PCB officer said Geo -Nieuws On Saturday.
The Right-Arm Fast Bowler was fined 30% of its match costs by the International Cricket Council (ICC) competition referee.
While the board and team management were still waiting for an official announcement, it was confirmed that Rauf had been found guilty and punished, the PCB officer said.
“That’s right,” said the civil servant when he was asked about reports about the sanction. He added that the PCB appeals against the decision that Rauf is guilty of breaking the code of conduct.
It remains unclear whether Rauf was fined to make a “6-0” gesture to the crowd during the game or for showing aggression towards Indian players.
The PCB claims that none of the two action is a violation.
Rauf did not argue during the hearing, performed by ICC competition referee Richie Richardson.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi has decided to cover the fine personally on behalf of Rauf if the sanction is confirmed even after the profession, another PCB officer said.
Separately, the PCB filed a complaint against India Captain Suryakumar Yadav for making political comments during interviews after the game and a press conference.
The ICC opted for the PCB on the issue and found Yadav guilty of violating the code of conduct and fining him 30% of his competition costs.
In both cases, the ICC still has to make an official statement, a delay that has received sharp criticism from PCB chairman Naqvi.
“How much more time do you need to explain the reasons behind your balance practice?” Naqvi wrote on social media.
The development only comes one day before Pakistan and India will be confronted in the high bet final of the ACC Men’s T20 Asia Cup 2025, planned for tomorrow (Sunday).
The green shirts set up a final against India after the past Bangladesh with 11 points in a super fours meeting on 25 September.
