Penn Badgley recently shared a rare insight into his life as a father to four boys.
You star reflects on modern parenting pressures during an appearance on Bustle’s One bedside table.
Penn, who is a father of four boys with his wife Domino Kirke, says one of his five-year-olds is in a “hybrid homeschool-like atmosphere” as the couple prioritizes a play-oriented childhood for their sons.
Explaining his reasoning behind this homeschool decision, the Easy A actor says his son is not yet in kindergarten and is being homeschooled.
“We don’t have to teach these kids as much as we’re trying to teach them,” the 39-year-old continued.
Penn notes that reading and math comprehension is “declining because we’re actually starting too early and so is everyone.”
The Margin call Actor points out that children learn best when they are not forced into strict curriculums during their early years.
“You hear parents in Park Slope, Brooklyn sometimes talking about their kids in the park, and it’s just like, God bless them all, seriously, I know we’re all doing the best we can, but the neuroses and the anxiety,” Penn says.
Meanwhile, the actor adds that modern parents don’t want children to remain children and we don’t know how to deal with them.
