Domino Kirke opens up about the intense, emotional experience of welcoming twins with husband Penn Badgley.
In a New Year’s Instagram post shared on January 3, the 42-year-old musician and doula reflected on the pregnancy, childbirth and the many personal milestones she experienced in 2025, months after giving birth to twins in late summer.
Although Kirke doesn’t share photos of her children publicly, she has included images documenting her pregnancy and moments with Badgley, 39, around the time of the birth.
Kirke described the twins’ vaginal delivery as “quite an achievement,” explaining that her body seemed to want more time, but the circumstances required flexibility.
“We stood in front of the machine called the Medical Industrial Complex and we bowed,” she wrote.
She complimented her midwife and close friends for helping guide the process, and joked that her 16 years of doula experience had not fully prepared her for her own birth.
Kirke also said the couple initially worked from home for several days before heading to the hospital, where the twins were born shortly after arriving.
The post also touched on the challenges of pregnancy in New York City, creative work while pregnant, and the release of her first album in eight years, The most famous star.
Kirke revealed that she continued with the album despite learning she was pregnant, writing, “I’ve been making art inside and outside my body. It couldn’t wait.”
Badgley and Kirke announced in February 2025 that they were expecting twins and publicly shared the news of their arrival in September.
