Prince William, the Prince of Wales, is said to be furious over speculation that Netflix could turn Andrew Mountbatten’s Scandal into a new television drama.
Insiders revealed that Netflix, Amazon and Disney are racing to develop series depicting Andrew’s fall.
A source said Closer magazine, “The Crown as a series has ended, but the name will live on. There have been advanced discussions about creating a limited series, under the banner of The Crown, about the Andrew saga that is as dramatic, if not more dramatic, than anything seen in the original series, including episodes about Diana’s abdication and death.”
They added: “There’s a real sense of ‘here we go again’ which has really triggered William, especially as it looks like Netflix are the ones taking the lead in putting this movie or TV series together.”
“Everyone knows how much William despises anyone who tries to take advantage of his family’s lowest points and stretch historical facts in a nasty and completely disproportionate way,” the insider revealed. “It happened to The Crown and now comes another attack that will cause widespread shame, especially if this TV special focuses on the alleged royal cover-up regarding Andrew’s misdeeds.”
Sources believe this is “the last thing” Prince William wants. He is reportedly “at the end of his tether right now,” noting that “he wasn’t kidding when he made those comments about not feeling calm. To the people who know him, it was actually a huge understatement.”
“The sheer amount of stress and collateral damage we have to deal with is spiraling out of control, it’s on a scale he and others at the top of the company can hardly believe. William is right in the middle of it all, drawing on all his inner strength to keep everyone calm and focused, both around him and himself,” the source said.
The Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor crisis has reportedly engulfed the entire royal family and is said to be consuming much of the Prince of Wales’ energy. “The last thing he needs is more nonsense surrounding Netflix,” the source said.
