Project job alum Tim Gunn has finally revealed the shocking reason why he has been celibate for almost 43 years.
The 72-year-old fashion consultant recently appeared on Chelsea Handler’s podcast Dear Chelsea, where he shared a broken heart led to him becoming celibate.
“I was in a very serious relationship for nine years in Washington, DC, and I loved this person very much and would have done anything for him. And I still remember the night it all ended,” Tim said.
He went on to say, “We were laying in bed watching M*A*S*H… he said to me, ‘I’ve run out of patience for you. I want you to leave.’ I had my own apartment, but I had been living with him for years and I left.”
“I drove to my apartment on Rock Creek Parkway and had to leave because I was hyperventilating. I was beside myself with self-flagellation and self-pity, and it was horrible,” Tim continued. “It would just take away the desire.”
“I have to say that being celibate and someone who lives alone has been a bit of an adjustment, but now I wouldn’t have it any other way,” he added.
For those unfamiliar, Tim rose to fame in 2004 after taking part in the reality show Project job. He served as a mentor to aspiring designers and was recognized for his supportive demeanor and unique tagline.
During the podcast, the TV personality also revealed that he is no longer part of the show because producers did not ask him to return.
“I will be completely transparent about it. I was not invited to the party,” he said.
