Pulp Fiction director Quentin Tarantino fired back at Rosanna Arquette after the actress denounced his use of the N-word in the crime thriller.
The 62-year-old filmmaker criticized the actress for having a “lack of class” for sharing her criticism after “taking the money.” For those unfamiliar, Rosanna played a small role in it Pulp Fiction.
“It’s iconic, a great film on many levels,” she said The times. “But personally, I’m over the use of the N-word – I hate it. I can’t stand it [Tarantino] has been given a hall pass. It’s not art, it’s just racist and creepy.”
In response to Rosanna’s comment, Quentin published a letter on Monday, March 9.
“I hope the publicity you get from 132 different media outlets writing your name and printing your photo was worth disrespecting me and a movie I distinctly remember you loving to be a part of?” he wrote, according to Variety.
“Is that how you feel right now? It’s entirely possible,” Quentin continued. “But after I gave you a job and you took the money, throwing it away for what I suspect are very cynical reasons shows a decided lack of class, and honor no less.”
“There is an assumption that there is an esprit de corps between artistic colleagues. But it seems that the goal has been achieved,” the director added.
