Rachael Leigh Cook has shared her true feelings, such as Josie and the Pussycats returns and finds a whole new audience after 25 years.
For those who don’t know, Cook played the role of Josie McCoy in the 2001 musical comedy film alongside Alan Cumming, Eugene Levy, Missi Pyle, Gabriel Mann, Tara Reid, Rosario Dawson, Parker Posey and others.
During a conversation with PEOPLE magazine, the famous American actress and model admitted that people showed immense love when the film first came out.
Expressing her thoughts, she said, “People are rediscovering that movie after it was considered an absolute box-office flop and only really took off in the last few years, maybe the last decade.”
After years, people have now come to appreciate the musical comedy, which makes Cook feel “great.”
“I don’t know what to say. Better late than never. I’m just grateful for it. It’s easy to make a movie that just falls into the abyss. I’ve certainly made a lot of them, and I’m not saying they all deserve Josie’s resurrection and treatment, but I’m just glad that this very deserving movie has finally found an audience,” said the star of A tourist guide to love explained.
Notably, the film finding its way into people’s hearts after more than two decades reaffirms Cook’s belief that starting small “can pay off over time.”
“Maybe this will bring other films that deserve more attention or more credit, maybe it will also bring them out of the woodwork,” Rachael Leigh Cook said hopefully.
