Rachel Zoe recently got candid and revealed the reason behind her decision to quit styling.
In a conversation with PEOPLE magazine, the 54-year-old American fashion designer said she left styling twelve years ago because her assistants had betrayed her several times.
Zoe expressed her thoughts, saying: “In full disclosure, I just couldn’t trust assistants. The definition of insanity is when you do the same thing over and over again and expect a different outcome.”
She added: “I think after being completely betrayed, for lack of a better term, in different ways, by enough assistants and not being able to trust them with my clients and stuff to represent what I do and how I am with my clients, it just wasn’t worth it anymore.”
Zoe further admitted that working with stars like Lindsay Lohan, Kate Hudson, Jennifer Garner, Nicole Richie and Mischa Barton gave her “no margin for error” but they all felt like they were “an extended family.”
“I’ve never wanted to abandon them. But if I have five clients going through awards season, I can’t physically be with all five at the same time. You have to be able to entrust that to people who represent your work, and if you can’t do that, the system is broken,” she explained.
