The International Cricket Council (ICC) has submitted India’s Suryakumar Yadav de Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) a complaint against him for making political statements after their Asia Cup 2025 collision on September 14, said sources on Thursday.
In his complaint, the PCB had accused the Indian captain of politicizing cricket and violating the Code of Conduct of the ICC in the field of neutrality.
The ICC gave a hearing about the complaint, in which it reportedly advised Yadav not to make political statements in the future.
The controversy comes from the post-match statements by the Indian captain after India defeated Pakistan in the group stage of the current continental tournament on September 14.
Sources said the PCB submitted a detailed letter that demanded strict action, and claimed that Yadav’s comments were against the spirit of the game and caused the reputation of cricket damage.
The issue arose during the controversial competition between the arch rivals, which attracted considerable attention both and outside the field.
Tensions were raised at the Worp when both teams skipped the traditional handshake, reportedly in the advice of the competition referee.
India won the group stage match with seven wickets, but Yadav’s comments continue to criticize, where experts called them “unprecedented” and “harmful to the spirit of the game.”
Separately, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) filed a formal complaint at the ICC against Haris Rauf of Pakistan and Sahibzada Farhan for their gestures on the field during the Asia Cup Super Fours Clash in Dubai last Sunday.
The complaint, reportedly submitted via e-mail on Wednesday, emphasizes the animated celebration of Farhan after reaching half a century and the gestures from Rauf to fans during the field on the border, incidents that went viral on social media and aroused a widespread debate.
If the players deny the allegations, the ICC is expected to hold a hearing where they can appear before competition referee Richie Richardson. Andy Pycroft also serves as a match referee for the tournament.
Both Pakistani players will appear before the ICC board body on Friday.
