Nick Reiner, the son of Rob Reiner and his wife Michele Singer Reiner, was arrested on suspicion of murdering his parents.
On December 14, the iconic director and his wife were found dead in their Los Angeles home, with detectives saying they believe they died from fatal stab wounds.
The law enforcement insider has now confirmed this Daily mail that Nick is “under the supervision of the prison mental evaluation team” at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility following his arrest.
According to the sources, Rob’s son was housed in the area for inmates with “suicidal thoughts.”
The outlet reported that prosecutors will be given the case on Tuesday, at which point they will explain how they will proceed with it against Nick Reiner. Notably, Nick is expected to appear in court this week.
This comes after Nick admitted he has substance abuse issues. Rob Reiner and son Nick explored their complicated relationship in the 2016 film Being Charlie.
In 2016, the director said Nick “forced us to understand ourselves better than we did” while making the film together.
“I told Nick as we were making it, I said, ‘You know, it doesn’t matter, whatever happens to this thing, we’ve already won. This has already been good.’ We went through a lot of things,” he said AP.
