Rock legend makes big career announcement

Beach Boys icon Bruce Johnston has officially said goodbye to the band after more than sixty years.

In a new interview with Rolling stone, the 83-year-old musician announced that he is no longer a member of the rock band.

“It’s time for part three of my long musical career!” Bruce told the outlet. “I could write songs forever and wait for you to hear what’s coming! Since my greatest talent besides singing is writing songs, now is the time to get serious again.”

“Additionally, I am currently working on developing a chapter on speaking engagement in my career – inspired in part by Cary Grant, who made a similar move long ago after his film career,” he continued.

Bruce added: “With the help of John Stamos in designing what I speak about, I will be doing appearances and events myself. I may even sing ‘Disney Girls’ and ‘I Write the Songs!!'”

Johnston further told the publication that he will still maintain ties with the rock band that helped define the California sound.

“I’m excited to perform with the Beach Boys on special occasions and I’ll see everyone at The Hollywood Bowl as we celebrate our country’s 250th anniversary!!” he said. “This isn’t goodbye, it’s see you later. I am forever grateful to be a part of the Beach Boys musical legacy.”

For those unfamiliar, Bruce joined the band in 1965.
