Russell Brand has finally responded to ex-wife Katy Perry’s new romance with politician Justin Trudeau.
Speaking to the audience at a Turning Point USA event in Phoenix on Thursday, the 50-year-old comedian slammed the singer for dating the former Canadian prime minister.
“Look, Katy Perry, I was married to her,” Russell said. “I still love her, and I’m glad her mom is in the room to hear me say this, but look.”
“I was fine with Orlando Bloom, but Justin Trudeau? Come on, man! Don’t put me in a category with that guy! That globalist stooge,” Brand said.
For those unfamiliar, Katy and Russell were married from 2010 to 2012. After her divorce from Russell, the pop sensation became engaged to Orlando in 2019.
However, the couple split in June 2025 after nine years. The exes share a 5-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom.
Katy’s first relationship rumors emerged in July 2025 when they were spotted on a date in Montreal, Canada.
An insider told People magazine at the time that the two had an “instant connection.”
“They are interested in each other, but it will take some time to see where this goes,” the source said.
“She’s traveling the world, and he’s figuring out his life now that he’s no longer Prime Minister of Canada, but there is an attraction. They have a lot in common,” the confidant added.
