In a recent interview with Termthe Sinners director spoke about the types of projects he still hopes to tackle during his career, making it clear that no genre is off limits.
“When it comes to genres I haven’t done yet and would like to do, I think the best answer is all of them.”
“I have kids, so I hope to be around for a long time, and I hope to keep working as long as I can. There isn’t a genre of film that I don’t like. So I hope to work on all of them,” he said.
Coogler also reflected on his appreciation for romantic comedies, revealing that he has a special admiration for the classic When Harry met Sally, directed by Rob Reiner.
“I’d like to make a nut soup. Rest in peace, Rob Reiner, you know what I mean, but When Harry Meet Sally is one of my films that I think about with him. And to me, that’s such a solid romantic comedy that feels mature overall, and has eternal relevance, you know?
The filmmaker added that he would love to one day create something in the same vein.
“I would love to make a rom-com that works like that one day,” he concluded.
