Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes appeared in public together for the first time in ten years!
The two appeared on the renowned The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, ahead of the upcoming release of his latest film, Project Hail Mary.
The actor took the opportunity to surprise Mendes with a special party for her 52nd birthday.
Gosling first asked the audience if they wanted to sing for his wife, who was waiting backstage at the time.
An employee went to get an unassuming Mendes, and as she walked to the stage, he joked, “The point is, you might find me in the Hudson River tomorrow.”
Mendes took part in the festivities, notably wearing Gosling’s blue and white striped Louis Vuitton vest, which he recently wore during an appearance on Jeopardy!
She paired the piece with retro-inspired wide-leg jeans and a black and white T-shirt featuring the cover of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s 1980 album. Double fantasy.
As Mendes walked to a cheering audience, Gosling held her hand and they took the stage together.
She then thanked the teachers and students sitting in the audience and thanked them for their impact, asking Fallon, “You’re cutting all of this, right?” He smiled and replied, “No!”
Fallon then told Mendes, “This is your birthday!” The television host then revealed that band directors from North Bergen High School in New Jersey were in the audience before the school’s marching band played “Happy Birthday” for Mendes, walking out with a flag that read “Happy Birthday, Eva!”
Gosling also clapped and sang along, and Mendes thanked him with a kiss on the cheek.
The sweet moment between Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes comes more than a decade after the couple walked the red carpet together for the New York City premiere of The place behind the pines.
