Saint Denis dominates Dan Hooker in Sydney

Benoit Saint Denis delivered a dominant performance at UFC 325, stopping Dan Hooker by TKO in the co-main event Saturday night in Sydney.

The lightweight bout ended at 4:45 of round 2 at the Qudos Bank Arena, with Saint Denis securing the victory.

The win broke Saint Denis’ UFC record and extended his winning streak to four fights.

From the opening bell, Saint Denis made his strategy clear by repeatedly firing for takedowns. Hooker initially defended well and also connected with front kicks to the body, but Saint Denis dominated.

The fight changed in the second round when Saint Denis took advantage of a mistake by Hooker and hit a choke attempt.

Although Hooker defended Saint Denis, he adjusted his position and headed for the mountain.

From there, Saint Denis unleashed a sustained barrage of strikes with referee Herb Dean giving Hooker time to defend and improve his position, but he could not escape.

Saint Denis got into the momentum of UFC 325 after defeating Kyle Prepolec, Mauricio Ruffy and Beneil Dariush.

His only UFC losses were to Renato Moicano and Dustin Poirier.

For Hooker, the loss marks his second straight defeat after being defeated by Arman Tsarukyan in November.
