Despite filming being in its eighth and final season, Sam Heughan has revealed that even the cast doesn’t know how Foreigner will end.
In an interview with People magazine, the actor admitted that Outlander’s ending remains a mystery to everyone.
We don’t actually know how it will end. We know roughly, but we’ll see for ourselves in the edit,” Sam said.
However, Sam teased what to expect in season 8, saying, “Atonement… war and eternity.”
He hopes viewers will look back on the series and see that “it’s a great adventure that they went on with us and maybe, I don’t know, go back to Season 1 and watch it again from the beginning.”
Sam added: “I hope they feel we’ve done justice to the characters, to the story and to the fans. You know, it’s hard. How do you finish a show like that?’
“Obviously we didn’t finish the books. We had to finish our show, so it’s a departure from the books in some ways, but for us it was worth it and we wanted to finish it well.
Furthermore, Sam Heughan also spoke about his costars, saying, “It just felt nice to create something, you know, from my garden. It was a really nice moment to share with everyone I’ve worked with – it was the cast and crew that were there, and just to, you know, [celebrate] an amazing journey we have all been on over the past eleven years.”
“So it felt good. We finished the bottle I made and had a lot of other cocktails as well,” he added.
Foreigner season 8 is scheduled to release on March 6, 2026.
