Sean “Diddy” Combs’ prison sentence could be reduced and he may be a free man ten years sooner than his original 50-month sentence at Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution
The 56-year-old is currently in New Jersey’s low-security prison after being convicted last summer of two counts of transportation for prostitution.
The disgraced rapper was previously scheduled to be released from prison on June 4, 2028, but that was pushed back to April 25, 2028, earlier last month.
However, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons website, his release date has been changed again and he is now expected to be released on April 15, 2028.
Combs was arrested at a New York hotel on September 16, 2024 following a grand jury indictment and following the arrest, his attorney, Marc Agnifilo, released a statement saying, “We are disappointed in the decision to proceed with what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs.”
“Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man and proven philanthropist. He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal,” he added, in an attempt to clear the star’s name.
He faced five charges, including one count of racketeering, two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, all of which he pleaded not guilty to.
After an eight-week trial, the jury deliberated for three days before finding him “guilty” of violations of the Mann Act, a federal law that criminalizes the transportation of individuals across state lines “for the purpose of prostitution or debauchery, or for any other immoral purpose.”
He was acquitted of the more serious charges, including sex trafficking and extortion, which could have led to a life sentence.
Before his Oct. 3 sentencing, Diddy had already spent about a year in the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn after being denied bail.
He was sentenced to four years and two months in prison with time served, along with a $500,000 fine, in addition to five years of supervised release.
Prosecutors wanted Diddy to spend 11 years and three months behind bars, while his defense team argued for no more than 14 months, which would amount to time served.
However, according to NBC NewsU.S. District Court Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced him to 50 months, explaining that the prosecution’s offer was more than what would be “necessary” but that the defense’s request “would not be sufficient.”
Before his sentencing, Combs expressed shame and remorse for his actions, saying, “My actions were disgusting, shameful and sick. I was sick, sick from drugs, out of control, I needed help and didn’t get the help.”
He continued: “I have lost my self-respect. I have been humiliated and broken to my core. I hate myself now, I have been reduced to nothing. I am truly sorry for all this, no matter what they say.”
As of now, Sean “Diddy” Combs has since been accepted into a substance abuse rehabilitation program at the Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution, which could help reduce his sentence with credits for good behavior.
