Julia Roberts and Sean Penn share their admiration for the Erin Brokovich star’s husband, Danny Moder.
The Gas lit costars reunited for Variety & CNN’s Actors on Actors season 23, where they discussed everything they have in common.
During their discussion, the Mystical river star remembered meeting Julia.
‘I think back to New York – the Mayflower Hotel during the filming of The Pope of Greenwich Village. You were Eric’s little sister. “I had heard about you, but you must have been a teenager,” he recalled.
“Yes, I still am,” he joked Beautiful woman star.
Penn worked alongside Julia’s older brother Eric Roberts in the 1984 film.
“I think you’re phenomenal,” Penn told his old friend. “My mother always lit up when you came over, and then you have a wonderful husband, who is my favorite cameraman.”
Julia then joked that they share a “love” for Moder, 56.
“I remember him telling me you were making a movie and Danny was holding a camera in his hand,” Penn added. “He is focused on his work and ends up in a corner, followed by the description: ‘That was the sexiest thing on earth.’”
The Oscar-winning actress previously raved about Penn’s acting skills after working with him on the 2022 Starz limited series Gas lit, in which they portrayed the couple Martha and John Mitchell.
“Sean Penn is simply the best in the game,” Julia said Entertainment weekly in April 2022. “And he went about it with such predictable vigor. It was a thrill for me to see him transform and so fully inhabit John Mitchell, and to see us talk about the Mitchells and their relationship.”
