Cher has sparked concern among her friends after a series of awkward moments at the Grammy Awards.
The music icon appeared confused on stage as she accepted a Lifetime Achievement Award at the ceremony in February, including forgetting to present the honor after her speech and incorrectly announcing the late Luther Vandross instead of the actual winners, Kendrick Lamar and SZA, who accepted the award for their song Luther.
Now insiders reveal the incident has added to growing concerns about Cher’s demanding lifestyle.
The source told Radar Online, “Ever since Alex came on the scene, Cher has felt compelled to jump into this fast-paced, jet-setting party scene, but it’s asking way too much of her to keep up with him and other kids well over half her age.”
“She survives on fumes and this is evident not only from her garbled sentences and slurred speech, but also from the fact that she is out of breath and often complains of dizziness and exhaustion.”
“Remember, she has had major health issues in recent years. That vulnerability is still there and she is only exacerbating her problems by stretching herself way too thin,” she added.
According to the source, people around Cher worry that years of non-stop touring, late nights and a tough life have “taken a toll that she simply cannot recover from.”
Cher, who is dating younger boyfriend Alexander ‘AE’ Edwards, reportedly claims she is ‘proud’ to be ‘young at heart and refuses to live an old lady’s life’.
“But she turns 80 in May, and the fear is that if she doesn’t listen to her body, she might not make it,” the source said.
