Speaking The Rest Is Entertainment podcastthe music mogul opened up about his views on failure, missed opportunities and personal setbacks, sharing that he firmly believes that everything unfolds exactly as it should.

“I really believe in fate,” he said.

“I always use Eric as an example, which is that there were certain things in my life that were bad,” Cowell reflected.

However, he added that those difficult moments ultimately led him to where he is today.

According to Cowell, even the painful chapters were necessary because “that is your fate.”

He noted that Eric “was conceived on a certain day and at a certain time” and that if events had unfolded differently, his son might not have been born.

“If things had gone differently, I don’t believe he would be here,” Cowell continued, concluding that this belief leaves little room for regret.

“So that’s why you can’t really complain too much about your regrets.”
