Simu Liu has been thinking about his latest project, The Copenhagen Testan American science fiction spy thriller television series created by Thomas Brandon

In a new conversation with Termthe acting sensation discussed his new Peacock sci-fi thriller series in detail, and shared what inspired the project in which he stars as intelligence agent Alexander Hale.

“I think on the one hand it was definitely about the premise and the world building, just dealing with themes of surveillance and technology,” he began.

It is pertinent to mention here that Liu also serves as an executive producer on the project. The show premiered on December 27, 2025.

“I feel like a lot of that stuff is actually just current and relevant today. And so I think it was. I really appreciated Thomas’ take on this five minutes in the future, which is set in this world of intelligence.”

Liu added, “And on the other hand, it was the cultural specificity. I was really struck by Alexander’s backstory in the script and the sense that he was someone who, in a completely three-dimensional way, embodied what it was like for someone from an immigrant family to be in a situation or work in a situation, an environment where they are constantly doubted, constantly overlooked and underestimated.”

“I think it’s something that a lot of people in immigrant families grew up with, something that I think resonates a lot.”

Before the conclusion, Liu noted that he’s more than happy to “do my part and try to get things that feel a little bit universal, but also culturally specific and just my own unique brand of different.”
