Sir Paul McCartney tends to agree with those who blame him for the Beatles’ breakup.
Sir Paul, 83, is gearing up to release a new documentary, titled Man on the runabout his life after the Beatles broke up.
In an interview with director Morgan Neville, Paul reflected on how he feels and reacts when people criticize him for splitting up the legendary band.
“Every time I hear someone condemn Paul McCartney, I usually agree with him,” he said.
“So when everyone said I broke up the Beatles, and I was just being presumptuous and all that, I kind of believed in it,” he added.
Man on the run describes the formation of Paul’s band Wings after the Beatles broke up in 1970. The band was founded with great help from his late wife Linda, who joined as keyboardist.
The documentary features footage of Paul and Linda’s family life with their children, Heather, 63, who was adopted, Mary, 56, Stella, 53, and James, 48.
“It’s really special to see me and Linda interacting because you know, she’s gone. Me and Linda, the kids. The music. Me and John [Lennon],” he said of the images.
He added: “These memories are like a life flashing before you. There are so many cool things. Even though there are some embarrassing moments, I come out of it thinking, ‘Yes, I’m fine.'”
“All the stuff with the kids and Linda is beautiful to see. It’s obviously emotional because she looks so beautiful. She’s so cool,” he added.
