Snoop Dogg broke his silence on David Beckham’s family feud with his eldest son Brooklyn Beckham after making an explosive post against his family on social media.
The rapper, who has been friends with the football star for more than 20 years, said family remains David’s top priority despite the public fallout.
He also said that even though fathers do their best, “no father is perfect,” while emphasizing that there is always room for forgiveness.
“David is my son, we have known each other for more than twenty years,” he said Closer magazine. “But despite all he has achieved, nothing is more important to him than his family.”
“We’ve talked a lot about fatherhood and we do our best, but no father is perfect. We all make mistakes, but there must always be forgiveness,” Snoop added.
In a series of Instagram stories, Brooklyn accused his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, of being controlling and made several accusations against them, including that the fashion designer hijacked his first dance with wife Nicola Peltz on their wedding day.
Snoop went on to say that he did not discuss the situation directly with David. He made it clear that his friend knows he has his support.
“He knows he can reach me whenever he wants,” he said. “We have talked about our children many times over the years, but he wants to handle this matter privately.”
“If he confided in me, it would remain confidential,” Snoop shared a message for David, adding that he hopes they can reconcile.
“It’s a family I’ve always loved,” he said, adding that he “wouldn’t like it if any of my children criticized me publicly.”
“I think things can change for the better when there is open dialogue and honesty. That’s what I’ve always encouraged in my children: if you have something to say, tell me – even if it’s hard to hear.
“We need to let our kids choose their own path, but parenting is all about showing up and letting your kids know you’re there for them no matter what.
“I made mistakes and my family still loved me, and I have to show the same to my children.”
