Sterling K. Brown doesn’t hide his children’s faces when he posts them on social media.
During his appearance on the Monday, February 23 episode of Armchair expert with Dax Shepard podcast, the Paradise actor, 49, asked the host why he keeps his two daughters – Lincoln, 12, and Delta, 11, off social media and out of the spotlight.
Shepard, who shares the kids with Kristen Bell, responded that he’s doing it for their “safety,” adding that he wants them to “be able to be anonymous and make mistakes.”
Brown agreed, but shared a different perspective on keeping his children — Amaré, 10, and Andrew, 15 — safe. The This Is Us star shares his sons with wife Ryan Michelle Bathe.
“Your children are clearly white. My children are black. “I feel like the more I put them out there socially, the safer they are,” he said. “Any proximity that black boys might have to some kind of celebrity or access or… status [or] lever. I’m trying to make sure they get home.”
“When I’m out with Ryan and the boys, we have a no-photos policy. And that policy is because they deserve to have a night out on a regular basis. It’s their time,” he shared. “Just because Ry and I have a certain amount of attention or anything doesn’t mean they should receive less from us.”
Sterling K. Brown is currently promoting season 2 of Paradise.
