Steve Martin was forced to cancel two comedy tour shows after he had only tested for the podium for a few hours before COVID.
The 80-year-old star, who toured with his old employee Martin Short, would perform this weekend in Virginia Beach and Richmond.
The comic legend broke the news on Instagram and wrote: “Dear Virginia Beach and Richmond. Unfortunately I came down with Covid. It is impossible for you to do the shows you earn.”
“So Marty and I have to cancel tonight and tomorrow. But we will come back under better conditions.”
The post was accompanied by a photo of a dog that wore Mickey Mouse -ears, leaving the mood light light light despite the cancellation.
Later Martin shared another photo with his positive Covid test strip next to a negative grieous result, and added the caption: “Hey! No flu!” Fans quickly flooded his comments with good wishes.
A follower wrote: “I hope you feel better soon, Steve. Take extra for you,” while someone else admitted that they had waited more than 40 years to see him live.
Promotors confirmed that restitutions would be issued for the canceled shows, and Martin and Short are planned to appear in Florida on October 4, with extra stops in Las Vegas, Boston, Pittsburgh and Austin before the Tour in Cleveland in Cleveland in Cleveland is wicked.
The setback came just a few days after Martin appeared on the Emmy Awards with Martin Short and Selena Gomez, where the success of their hit series was only celebrated in the building, now in the fifth season.
