Karachi: The Noor Zaman van Pakistan marched the open semi -final of Charlottesville with a straight games victory on the third seed of Egypt Yahya Elnowasany on Thursday.
The eighth seed only needed 35 minutes to complete a clinical 11-9, 11-9, 11-9 victory in their quarterfinals.
Zaman, 21, is now confronted with the American Top Zaad Timothy Brownell in the last four. Brownell booked his place by beating India’s Veer Chotrani with 3-1 (11-6, 9-11, 11-1, 11-6) in 41 minutes.
In other quarter-final results, the Sam Todd of England of England’s Leandro Romiglio 3-0 (11-8, 11-8, 11-8) has conquered while the Salman Khalil of Egypt fourth seed velavan Senthilkumar of India (12-10, 9-11, 11-8, 11-3) slammed.
The Charlottesville Open, which carries a total prize bus of $ 31,250, is part of the PSA World Tour series.
Zaman rushed into the Charlottesville Open quarterfinals on Thursday with a thunderous 3-1 win over Tom Walsh in England.
The in-shape player, who received a first round bye, started the game at a peak when he sealed a hard-fought opening set 13-11, while fully surpassing Walsh 11-5.
The Englishman withdrew one by sealing the third set 11-5, only for Zaman to achieve the fourth and to complete an extensive victory to book his place in the quarterfinals.
Zaman rides high on confidence in particular after winning the Nash Cup in Canada last week, another PSA World Tour event.
The 21-year-old, fifth sown, surprised the tournament nr. 2 Seed 3-0 in a gripping match of 52 minutes.
Noor Zaman completed a marathon first match 19-17 before the match was sealed with 11-7 and 11-9 victories. The triumph meant an important milestone for the ruling world -U23 champion.
On the other hand, Zaman’s countrymen Ashab Irfan and Asim Khan defeated the defeats in their respective round of 16 games and were thus beaten from the tournament.
Asim suffered a 3-0 defeat due to top seeds Timothy Brownell, while India’s Veer Chotrani Ashab 3-1 crushed.
