‘Stranger Things’ creators Duffer Brothers are facing shocking allegations

Just a few weeks after the release on Netflix, the hit series Stranger things are embroiled in a shocking controversy.

Fans have accused creators Matt and Ross Duffer of using artificial intelligence to write the series.

It comes as a behind-the-scenes documentary One Last Adventure: Making Stranger Things 5 was released on January 12. Some users noticed that a number of ChatGPT tabs were open on the computer screen, leading to rumors that AI tools were used in the making of the show’s finale.

Fans are questioning the creative process of making the finale, which has already been criticized for its lack of emotional payoff. One user wrote: “The Duffer Brothers used ChatGPT to write Stranger Things season 5. Now we know why the finale didn’t feel right.”

Another added: “They used ChatGPT and Reddit while working on the ending. No wonder it felt incomplete,” as quoted by an Indian news channel.

Stranger things, created by Duffer Brothers debuted in 2016 and ended in 2025. The show became one of Netflix’s most successful series, launching the careers of stars like Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhard.

It is pertinent to mention that Duffer Brothers Matt and Ross Duffer have not addressed the allegations.

Notably, Matt and Ross Duffer revealed that the final season of Stranger Things was written under extreme chaos.

In the documentary One Last Adventure: Making Stranger Things 5Duffer Brothers explained that the executives were pushing for scripts while production was underway. According to the brothers, this was the most stressful writing environment they had ever experienced.
