Sydney Sweeney said she wants to inspire women to be confident and proud of themselves, regardless of what others think.
The 28-year-old actress said people often see her as a sex symbol, but that image doesn’t really reflect who she is.
Speak with VarietySydney explained that people assume they know her because of the daring characters she plays.
“I play a lot of divisive characters, and I think a lot of people think they know me, but they don’t,” she said.
“So when people think, ‘Ah, she’s a sex symbol,’ or ‘She’s leaning towards that,’ I think, ‘No, I just feel good and I do it for myself and I feel strong.'”
The Euphoria actress added that she hopes her confidence encourages other women to “show off what they have” and feel comfortable in their own skin.
“You don’t have to apologize, hide or cover up in any room,” the star continued.
However, the Christy star also spoke about the challenges of being a woman in Hollywood, explaining how she constantly reminds herself of her own worth.
“As an actress, it’s a lot harder to stand in the room and claim your worth. I have to remind myself, ‘Hey, Syd, you’re actually powerful. Stand a little taller.'”
Although she has become one of Hollywood’s most talked-about stars, the actress admitted that she is still learning to balance fame and privacy.
Additionally, Sydney said she wants people to know her as a person, while keeping parts of her life peaceful and private.
