Tate McRae has earned her first-ever Grammy nomination, but not in the category fans might have expected.
On Friday morning, the Canadian pop star scored a single nod for Best Dance Pop Recording with Just keep watchingher track from the upcoming Brad Pitt film F1.
The song was already a hit, winning Song of the Summer and Best Editing at the VMAs. McRae shared her excitement on Instagram, writing: “Grammy nominated!!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! @recordingacademy.”
She will compete against Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco at the 2026 Grammy Awards Bluest flameLady Gagas AbracadabraZara Larssons Midnight sunand PinkPantheress’ Illegal.
The recognition surprised fans since her chart-topping album So close to what – her third studio release and first Billboard 200 No. 1 – was completely shut out.
The album, released on February 21, contains singles Revolving door, it’s okay, I’m okayAnd Sports car.
McRae was also ineligible for Best New Artist, as she had already been nominated three times and had therefore reached the eligibility limit.
Currently, the 21-year-old is packing up her So Close to What World Tourwhich started on March 18 in Mexico City and ended on November 8 in Inglewood, California. The tour features her latest single, Tit for Tatit is rumored to be a breakup.
As she celebrates her first Grammy nomination, McRae caps off a landmark year marked by record-breaking success, sold-out shows and a defining moment on music’s biggest stage.
