Taylor Swift clapped back at critics who thought her presence was a bit over the top.
During a recent appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on December 10 to promote her new one Disney+ docuseries The end of an era, she shared a message with people who want her to “just go away.”
“I think what I look up to most in people is longevity – longevity, longevity of friendships, longevity in their relationships, how do you keep a good thing going? I think there are certain corners of our society that really love that and look up to longevity,” Taylor expressed her view on longevity.
But this isn’t the case for everyone, she noted, adding, “There are also corners that say, ‘Give someone else a turn. Can’t you just leave so we can talk about how good you were?’ And I’m like, I don’t want to, you know?”
The pop star concluded her Eras tour in 2024 and releases or re-releases at least one album every year.
She went on to talk about her career-spanning tour, calling it something special.
“I think what I thought in the beginning was… we were seeing all this crazy demand for the tour, but I kind of just wrote it down: I’ve put out five albums, I haven’t been able to tour any of them yet, demand has just been building,” she noted.
“I didn’t realize it would be this until you started hearing about people’s experiences on the show, because I’ve spent my whole life trying to figure out how do you not just entertain people, but actually get them out of their problems, their lives, their stresses? How do you really create a sense of escape?”
She quickly realized that her Eras tour was different from her previous ones when she read “articles where medical professionals are diagnosing…all these fans coming to the Eras Tour with memory loss after the concert, they were having sort of joy blackouts and I was like, ‘Oh man, I think this one is different.’
The End of an era The first two parts of the docuseries will all release on Disney+ on December 12.
