Taylor Swift adds another feather to her cap

Taylor Swift was the best-selling global artist of the year in 2025, the IFPI said on Wednesday. It is the sixth time that she has won the title of the organization that represents the music industry, Reuters news agency reported on Wednesday.

The award follows the success of the megastar’s latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” which sold more copies in its first week than any other album in modern times, according to Billboard. Billboard cited data from Luminate.

Swift saw global engagement across streaming, physical and digital formats with the release of “The Life of a Showgirl” and her tour documentary “The End of an Era,” according to IFPI.

She was first named IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year in 2014 and again in 2019 and from 2022 to 2024.

Swift has now won the award as many times as all other artists combined over the past decade, reflecting both her creative consistency and the long-term global strategies her releases support, the IFPI said in a statement.

The award is calculated by looking at an artist or group’s global sales across streaming, download and physical music formats during the calendar year and, according to the organization, covers their entire oeuvre.
