Taylor Swift is finally addressing her breakups with Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy.
Swift’s six-year relationship with actor Joe came to an end when her 2023 tour began. She also had a brief romance with 1975 frontman Matty Healy in the summer of that year before moving on to her now fiancé, NFL hunk Travis Kelce.
In the fourth episode of Eras Tour: The End of an Era, released on December 19, the August hitmaker lifted the veil on her two breakups, which she had to go through during the tour.
“There were moments on this tour where the tour was really the only thing keeping me going in my life,” Taylor said. “But there were never any points in the tour where I thought, ‘Oh, I want to quit the tour, because the tour is hard.’ No, my personal life was difficult.”
“I went through two breakups in the first half of this tour,” she said. “That’s actually a lot of separation. This show gave me purpose and what I could use to get me out of bed. The tour has never been the hardest thing in my life. The tour has been the thing that allowed me to find purpose outside of the s*** that was going on in my life.”
“Men will let you down, the Eras Tour will never do that,” she noted.
Taylor wrote her 2024 album The Tortured Poets Department at this time and it is widely believed to be about the two’s relationships and breakups.
The Grammy winner supported that report, saying, “The album Tortured Poets is like this cleansing of… just everything, all the bad that I felt for two years. It was a really hard time in my life, so the songs reflect that.”
“Feeling like I’m not a person, I’m just a big conglomerate that no one sees as a real human being, especially not the men I date. And through the whole process I’m just like… nothing, nothing works. There’s no one for me in the world,” she added.
Both Joe Alwyn and Matty Healy have remained quiet about their relationship with Taylor Swift.
Meanwhile, the singer appears to be getting her happy ending when it comes to romance, as she recently got engaged to Super Bowl-winning athlete Travis Kelce. The couple is expected to tie the knot in June 2026.
