A glimpse of this, given by the director: “We shot over two million feet of film,” he reveals of the 91-day shoot. And much of it took place on the ocean, where Odysseus sets sail with his battle-hardened men. “It’s pretty primal!”

He also has Empire magazine: “I’ve been working on it for the last four months. We have the cast playing the crew of Odysseus’ ship on the real waves, in the real places.”

“And yes, it is vast and terrifying, wondrous and benevolent, as circumstances change. We really wanted to capture how difficult those journeys would have been for people. And the leap of faith that was made into an uncharted, unmapped world,” he said in the previous interview.

The Odyssey will be released in theaters on July 17, 2026.
