Tiger Woods has released his statement for the first time since his arrest on suspicion of driving under the influence following his car accident.
The pro golfer took to his official X account (formerly Twitter) and revealed that he plans to seek treatment and will take some time away from golf to focus on his health.
“I know and understand the gravity of the situation I find myself in today,” Woods wrote on Tuesday, March 31.
“I will be taking some time away to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order to prioritize my well-being and work towards a sustainable recovery.”
He went on to say, “I am committed to taking the time necessary to return to a healthier, stronger and more focused place, both personally and professionally.”
Woods added: “I appreciate your understanding and support and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”
For those unfamiliar, Wood was taken into custody on March 27 when he drove down a street and crashed into a truck, causing his Range Rover to overturn, the Martin County Sheriff’s Office reported at the time.
After the accident, the golfer’s breathalyzer test showed “triple zeros.”
Budensiek claimed that Woods “appeared sluggish on stage because of what he was drunk on.”
However, the golfer was released the same day
